Museum Studies CourseThis is a golden opportunity to expand your knowledge substantially without enrolling for a degree course. Museum studies course presented in Paarl. The Taalmonument plans to offer a series of short courses on aspects of Cultural History. The presenter is Prof Matilda Burden, a lecturer in Cultural History at the University of Stellenbosch for the past 30 years. Prof Burden is also a member of the council or management bodies of several cultural, conservation and heritage organisations. The course focus on cultural historical museums and includes subjects such as the role of museums in heritage conservation; the handling of material and non material culture in museums; the functions of museums; the client base of museums; storage conditions of artefacts; management aspects; and museums as communication media. The course fee is R1,900 per person. Other courses planned are Cape Dutch architecture and Heritage conservation.
