Southern Guild Heavy Metal Exhibition

The dynamic Southern Guild has teamed up with ArcelorMittal SA again to present Heavy Metal, an exhibition of the most inspiring contemporary SA designer collectibles either produced in metal or inspired by metal by 48 leading local designers, artists and ceramicists. Featuring a really exciting range of metals as well as experimental new techniques, the exhibition will open at The Foundry in Woodstock, Cape Town on 27 February with the live installation of a permanent art work comprising more than 40 signature pieces that the exhibitors have been developing in collaboration with Southern Guild directors, Trevyn and Julian McGowan over the past four months.
The ten-day exhibition will include a programme of creative workshops and open days at the studios of some of the participating designers where the public will be able to gain insight into some of the more dramatic processes of metal-working such as forging and live bronze pourings.
