The Rockets at the Taalmonument

The well-loved r&b/pop group, the Rockets, is to perform as part of the Tuinteater Picnic Concert Series at the Afrikaanse Taalmonument in Paarl on Saturday 5 January. Early in 2012 around 1 000 guests attended their first, sold-out performance here. The show begins at 19:30 in the Garden Theatre, a smaller version of the well-known Paarl Amphitheatre, located on the lawn right at the foot of the monument.

The Rockets are multiple SAMA nominees and have performed at virtually every prestigious venue in South Africa. They have supported many international acts in South Africa, including Ronan Keating, Will Young, Patrizio Buanne and Alicia Keys. International tours have included performances in Australia, the Middle East and Africa.

They have had numerous record successes in South Africa and have topped many radio station and official charts. Their Afrikaans hits, "Namakwa Daisy" and "Ek is Lief Vir Jou", are receiving extensive airplay.

Visitors are welcome to bring their own wine and picnic baskets or they can order one from Volksmond Coffee Shop (tel. 021 863 2800 or az.oc.muesumlaat@dnomsklov). Coffee, beer, wine and light refreshments will be for sale. The concert is held in aid of the Taalmonument's Reading Project for the Youth.
Tickets, at R50 for adults and R10 for children (free under 6 years), are pre-sold at the Taalmonument, as well as at the gate. Place is limited. Remember to bring a blanket or cushion and warm clothes. Safe parking is available and access is controlled. No dogs or fires are allowed. The concert will be cancelled if the weather is bad.
