Nik Rabinowitz “Stands and Delivers”Nik brings his hit show Stand and Deliver to Johannesburg's Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City on Saturday 10 November. Stand-up comic Nik Rabinowitz was raised on the mean, green streets of Constantia, Cape Town, a world of ride-bys, piano lessons, and unrelenting love and financial support from family members. Despite all this hardship he still managed to be moderately successful, achieving fame as the world's foremost Xhosa-speaking Jewish comedian. Nik brings his hit show Stand and Deliver to the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) on Saturday 27 October and to Johannesburg's Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City on Saturday 10 November. While it may appear from the poster to be a show about a personality-disordered comic surfing in his underpants, we assure you it really isn't. In fact, Stand and Deliver has nothing to do with surfing and Nik almost never goes out in just his underpants. Prepare not just to laugh, but also to make extraordinary discoveries, like how a grown man can end up saying things like, 'dadda make hot for sossy'. The Stand and Deliver DVD will be launched on the night, and will be on sale along with signed copies of Nik and co-author Gill Breslin's recently published book South Africa: A Long Walk to a Free Ride. Watch out for Nik's opening act, Breakthrough Comic of the Year Tats Nkonzo. Tats sings really funny songs, with his guitar, in a beautiful voice. This will confuse you. You'll cry, you'll laugh, you'll love every minute. Stand and Deliver is at the CTICC on Saturday 27 October (9pm) and The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City on Saturday 10 November at 21:00. Tickets are priced from R120 to R150. Book now at via Computicket, with special discounts available to early bookings and groups of ten or more. Advance booking is recommended.
