Financial management for NGOs workshop

Financial management is as important to any organisation as much as the actual implementation of a project. Every employee of an NGO has to make sure that they contribute to the good financial management of the organisation, and basic financial management should not be left to the finance department only. This workshop seeks to strengthen the financial management skills of programme staff and to help them to be more effective in managing their financial resources, and in turn keep the donors happy.

There are many NGO's which carry out impressive projects which make a great impact in the communities that they are reaching. However, this work often gets overshadowed by poor financial management and lack of accountability for financial resources. Quite often, an organisation will do well in an operations audit, and be able to prove how the project has been implemented, but fail to demonstrate good financial management. This could be due to poor financial reports, inadequate record keeping, and failure to monitor variances among others. It is with this in mind that this course is designed.

Who should attend:
This course is ideal for staff in NGO's and CBO's to implement donor funded projects. Specifically, this course is for: Program managers who wish to improve their budgeting and financial monitoring skills Non finance officers who would like to improve their financial management skills, Junior finance staff with limited experience in financial management for NGO's and donor funded projects.
