Tsepo Tshola and The Legendary Divas

Tsepo 'The Village Pope' Tshola to join SA's Legendary Divas in celebration of Heritage Day

Tshepo, 'The Village Pope' Tshola will join SA's Legendary Divas on 23 September at The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City Casino.

Legendary Divas Abigail Kubeka, Marah Louw and Dorothy Masuku, featuring Tsepo Tsholo will delight the audience with a special one-night only performance.

These true South African icons first got together as a trio on 14 July 2011 for a Bastille Day event and performed a special tribute to the Late Goodwill Ambassador, Miriam Makeba. Since then, they have been invited to perform for the naming of new research vessel 'SA Agulhas II' ship in honour of Miriam Makeba, and gave a superb performance at Marah Louw's 60th Birthday celebration and 40th Anniversary in the entertainment industry. All of these performances earned sensational reviews, and left fans and media hungry for more.

Now, the Divas are back to celebrate South Africa's rich cultural heritage. Abigail Kubeka was discovered by Miriam Makeba when she was just 16. From her beginnings with Miriam's all-female group on tour, she grew into a music legend who has played for audiences around the globe. Marah Louw needs no introduction, thanks to an illustrious career that has spanned four decades. She has toured the world, performed for the Queen and 'starred in great productions ranging from Meropa to Fame and sang The Lion King theme song in 'Zulu'. Dorothy Masuka is originally from Zimbabwe, but spent her formative years in South Africa. Her 1990 album Pata Pata mixed jazz songs with contemporary sounds, including Shona traditional pop. Dorothy's latest album Mzilikazi is a masterful production.

Tsepo Tsholo, a well-known musician from Lesotho is also known for his most recent album, 'A New Dawn' in collaboration with heavyweight musical talents such as Hugh Masekela, Blondie Makhene, Khaya Mahlangu and Khotso. It is without a doubt then that 'A New Dawn' exceeds its promise to return this much-loved artist to the centrestage of the SA music scene.
