Who is lecturing?

We have invited lecturers to co-lecture one of six seminars for a maximum of 60 minutes. Where important, we will ask lecturers to co-lecture to increase the interaction and/or quality of the outputs. The lecturers will be a mix of global, African and South African experts - we will update the website as they are confirmed. We seek to offer participants learnings on what is/is not being done in Africa, and the ongoing risks and opportunities in the context of economic development in Africa. We have invited a diversity of African and international lecturers.

What is a masterclass?

This is not a conference, and not a lecture. The AfricaSIF.org ESG masterclass is a graduate education-style workshop with six separate but connected seminars by investment managers, academics, lawyers and/or experts to describe the current thinking on ESG in investment decisions in Africa. International investors are increasingly seeking investments in Africa that include ESG factors.

For SA Pension Fund investors, Regulation 28 describes, "Prudent investing should give appropriate consideration to any factor which may materially affect the sustainable long-term performance of a fund's assets, including factors of an environmental, social and governance character." We hope to demonstrate why and how they make sustainable investment happen in Africa.

Certificate of attendance:

Participants will receive an Masterclass Workbook on arrival with materials collated from publicly-available materials and content made available by lecturers. We are collating a Masterclass Workbook of PPT, case studies etc into combined folder to be exclusive to participants, therefore hardcopy only. All participants will be offered a certificate of attendance to the Masterclass. This will require a multiple choice exam to be completed to a satisfactory level.
