The AASIDC 2012 aims to urge collaboration between the private sector and governments in Sub-Saharan Africa to tap into the vast potential of agriculture by making new investments in the sector to enhance economic opportunities and increase food security. The reinvestment in agriculture, triggered by the 2008 food price crisis, is essential to the concrete realisation of the right to food. However, in a context of ecological, food and energy crises, the most pressing issues regarding reinvestment is not how much, but how and to what sustainability effect.
