Intimate Encounters

Intimate Encounters give patrons the opportunity to experience music for a smaller orchestra in a relaxed, weekend atmosphere. This is another way that the orchestra is reaching out to new audiences and performing lighter music.

In April 2012 the KZN Philharmonic introduced a new series titled "Intimate Encounters". The series was well received and therefore the orchestra has decided to have two of these concerts in August. The concerts will take place on Sunday 19 and 26 August. The concerts will commence at 6pm at the Jewish Club.

The concert programme of 19 August includes Glinka's Jota Aragonesa, Maskowsky's Sinfonietta and Naum Rousine's Cello Concerto. The cello concerto performance is a very special one as it is composed by the KZN Philharmonic's very own resident conductor Naum Rousine and will be performed by the orchestra's principal cellist Boris Kerimov. On 26 August the orchestra will perform John Cage's Construction No.3, Mozart's Symphony No.4 and Dvrorak's Czech's Suite
