2012 AR-CSR

Over the last 10 years, we have shifted from functionally centric brands to emotionally centric-brands to values-centric brands.

Today, businesses must be inspirational in a socially responsible way. It is no longer enough for them to define themselves in terms of what they are - they must make a statement - environmentally, culturally, and socially - about what they want to be. Beyond the continent, enterprises all over the world have in the past two decades witnessed drastic changes in operations, strategy and culture. In line with these changes, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as a subset of the corporate industry in Africa has increasingly gained relevance and attention not just as an image-laundering activity but as a fundamental business strategy and board policy.

The 2012 AR-CSR™ will feature the following activities:

Two-hour CEO Round-table
One a half-day Conference
Sustainable Solutions Showcase
AR-CSR™ Gala
High-Level Networking Cocktails

The Corporate Social Responsibility Conference is a two-day event where professionals in the African Business Environment as well as others from the Non-profit sector and other ancillary sectors (Financial Advisory, PR/Media, Non-Profit) will engage key professionals within the industry on best practices in Sustainability and CSR in order to elevate the evolving discourse across the continent.

Pursuing this discourse then brings to light the fact that, unlike our western counterparts, there is currently no continental platform in Africa for the analysis and dialogue of these issues rhetoric. ThistlePraxis Consulting, a multi-disciplinary CSR and Management Consulting firm and conference organiser, has identified the needs and gaps and therefore provides this platform to engage professionals, stakeholders from all over Africa, working on issues of sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility with a view to creating an operational framework as well as set an agenda towards achieving best practice models that African countries can aspire to.
