Lynne Franks, businesswoman and internationally acclaimed author of The Seed Handbook: The feminine way to create business is an internationally respected spokesperson on women's issues, sustainability and consumer lifestyles. She is also famous for being a trailblazer and PR guru in the UK and the inspiration behind the character of Edina in ABFAB. This presentation will explore some of the facts through the lens of Phuti's personal journey. Phuti Mahanyele is CEO Shanduka Group. She has a BA Economics from Rutgers University and an MBA from De Montfort University. She was selected as a Global Young Leader in 2007 by the WEF. She was listed as one of the "Top 50 women in the world to watch in 2008" by the Wall Street Journal. Keynote: Beyond the Devil wears Prada: Leadership lessons from the Newsroom Phylicia Oppelt is editor of The Times newspaper, the second biggest newspaper in SA. Previously she was editor of the Daily Dispatch in East London and the editor of Sunday Times Business Times. She won the coveted Media Magazine's Women in the Media award in 2011. Keynote: "No-one calls little boys bossy" : A high-flying CEO's view of the glass ceiling. Lauren Siebrits headed up the large Simba Sub Saharan Africa business and is now the CEO of IFFCO - the South African leg of a large Dubai based conglomerate. Former CEO of PepsiCo, Lauren has two daughters and her hobbies include flying (she is a helicopter pilot), reading, fine dining and holidaying with her family. Panel Discussion: Finding Your Calling: How to take charge of your own career path. CHAIR: Nancy Richards is a freelance journalist and radio presenter. She presents the woman focused radio show, OTHERWISE: Talking Women each weekday on SAfm, as well as The Enviro-Show on Thursday evenings. Previously she was Decor and associate editor at Fair Lady and has written two books: Beautiful Homes and Woman Today: 50 years of South African Women. Wendy Tlou, MD of The Communication Firm, previously GM: Global Communications at South African Tourism, primarily to deliver on the Tourism Growth Strategy through the development and enhancement of the organisation's Global Brand Communications Strategy. Anne Pratt is a multi-awarded business woman and a director of executive search company, Memela Pratt & Associates. Anne is a member of the International Women's Forum advancing women's leadership across careers, cultures and continents by connecting the world's most preeminent women of significant and diverse achievement. Jo-Ann de Wet Operations Director at McDonald's SA started at McDonald's as Trainee Manager. She is also the co-chair of the McDonald's Women's Leadership Network which supports the development and advancement of women within McDonald's. Panel Discussion: The Power of Love. CHAIR: Siki Mgabadeli is an independent financial journalist and producer. She is currently the host of Morning Talk on SAFM - a talkshow, which deals with politics, life and finance. She is an accomplished financial and economics journalist, who has been an anchor, a producer and reporter at Summit TV, eTV, the SABC and CNCBC Africa. Siki also co-anchored SABC3's Africa Inc. with Nikiwe Bikitsha. Josie Adler's commitment to building strong civil society was founded in her family's background as immigrants and refugees, developed in her studies in Social Anthropology, Sociology, African Government, Classics and law. A professional organiser for over 20 years, she founded the eKhaya Neighbourhood City Improvement District, an association of property owners and housing managers which is reclaiming the streets and buildings of Hillbrow one step at a time. Tali Nates is director of the Johannesburg Holocaust and Genocide Centre and has lectured internationally about Holocaust education, genocide prevention, reconciliation and human rights. She's one of the top 100 newsworthy and noteworthy women in SA in the Mail & Guardian Book of SA Women. (2010) Born to a family of Holocaust survivors, her father and uncle were both saved by Oskar Schindler but the rest of the family perished. Panel Discussion: Awaken the Entrepreneur Within. Entrepreneurship has been described as the heart-beat of a nation. But SA's entrepreneurial activity is still relatively low compared to its peer emerging countries. What can we do to foster entrepreneurship in our homes, schools and place of work? Rapelang Rabana as co-founder and CEO of SA based software development organisation Yeigo, oversaw the company's integration into the TelFree Group of companies in 2008. She's now Global Head of R&D. She was appointed Ambassador for the UN's World Youth Summit Awards that recognise outstanding youth-led initiatives using innovative technology. Margie Worthington-Smith, Executive Director at Allan Gray Orbis Foundation, selects young South Africans with high potential and provides them with access to entrepreneurial role models. She's a founder of the Triple Trust Organisation and also founded the SA Institute for Entrepreneurship in 1996 to continue the work of growing young South Africans to develop entrepreneurial mindsets.
