Find your voice as a writer

The Write Voice creative writing workshop offers you a unique opportunity to take four steps in finding your purpose in writing and to explore the endless possibilities you have to tell your story and express yourself.

STEP ONE: Explore your strengths and weakness as a writer. As a storyteller, you are what you write and have to understand the relationship between the writer and the writing process, how to write, as well as what it takes to be a writer and how to navigate your creativity.

STEP TWO: Once you have come to terms with your writing self and artistic temperament, you will explore your unique creative nature and how to unlock your creativity, examine the process of creative writing and take a closer look at the conscious self versus the subconscious and unconscious self and 5 stages of creative expression.

STEP THREE: Now it's time to understand the mechanics of drama, story and the medium through which the writing will be expressed, what makes a story dynamic and well written and how to maximise your creative expression.

STEP FOUR: Any craftsman needs tools that will support the creative process and turn writing into a pleasant and prosperous experience. You will take command of your writing space and comfort zone (writing zone), learn how to sell yourself as a writer and sign a contract with yourself.

During the workshop you will write a short story that will be READ during the last session. There will also be several practical writing exercises guaranteed to trigger the creative process.

TRAINER: The workshop is presented by Daniel Dercksen, a published playwright, writer, movie journalist, and qualified ETD Practitioner (Education, Training and Development) who has been teaching workshops in screenwriting, creative writing and filmmaking throughout South Africa the past 18 years.

NOTE: This workshop is ideal for storytellers, actors or anyone who needs motivation.
