Bolt seeks women entrepreneurs for new SA initiative

The initiative, launched during Women’s Month, is open to eligible women who use Bolt in South Africa. Entries close at 23:59 SAST on 18 August 2026.

To enter, entrepreneurs must publish a video or series of photographs on Facebook, Instagram or TikTok explaining the story behind their business. They must tag @BoltSouthAfrica and use the hashtag #BoltSeesYou. No separate application form is required.

Bolt will review eligible submissions and create a shortlist on a rolling basis. The public will then be able to vote for the entrepreneur whose story resonates most with them. The entrepreneur with the most verified votes by the closing date will receive the R50,000 grant.

The initiative is aimed at women running businesses across a range of sectors, including school transport, salons, bakeries, crèches, market stalls, professional services and online businesses.

“Behind every small business is a woman who has taken a risk, solved a problem or kept going through circumstances that might have caused someone else to stop,” said Adega Murbe-Onyango, regional marketing manager at Bolt Africa.

“This Women’s Month, we want to recognise that work. While the grant will support one entrepreneur, every story shared will help shine a light on the courage, ingenuity and contribution of women building businesses across South Africa.”

How to enter

Eligible entrepreneurs must:

• Post a video or photographs telling the story of their business on Facebook, Instagram or TikTok.
• Tag @BoltSouthAfrica and include #BoltSeesYou.
• Keep the post public for the duration of the initiative.
• Submit no more than one entry.
• Meet the eligibility requirements contained in the initiative’s terms and conditions.

The grant will be paid to the winning entrepreneur by electronic funds transfer. Bolt will also document and share the recipient’s entrepreneurial journey on its South African social media platforms.

Entries and public voting close at 23:59 SAST on 18 August 2026.
