Debt Solutions 4U counsellor featured in Debtfree Magazine on annual credit report checksWesley Sparkman on why South Africans should use a statutory entitlement most never claim. ![]() Wesley Sparkman, an NCR-registered debt counsellor at Debt Solutions 4U, was featured in Debtfree Magazine in July 2026 discussing why South African consumers should check their credit report at least once a year. Debtfree Magazine is the South African debt counselling industry's trade publication. The article addressed the statutory entitlement under section 72 of the National Credit Act to one free credit report a year from each registered credit bureau, an entitlement used by only a small minority of consumers. South Africa has four registered bureaus — TransUnion, Experian, Compuscan and XDS — giving every consumer four free reports annually. “Most people only look at their credit record when something has already gone wrong. By then you are disputing a listing under time pressure instead of catching an error early, and errors are more common than people expect.” — Wesley Sparkman, Debt Counsellor, Debt Solutions 4U (NCRDC1887) Sparkman holds a BSc (Hons) from the University of Southampton. Debt Solutions 4U offers a free credit report check that also queries the National Credit Regulator's debt review register, a status that bureau reports do not reliably show.
