2011 summer academy for SADC journalists

Call for applications.

The Institute for the Advancement of Journalism (IAJ), South Africa's premier provider of short courses and residency programmes for journalists, communicators and media practitioners, and the International Institute for Journalism (IIJ) of GIZ - Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit - based in Berlin, Germany invite young journalists to apply for a two-week training course on Freedom and responsibility in the media: towards sustainable quality journalism in the SADC region.

The programme addresses young journalists from newspapers, news agencies, online media and radio stations in the SADC region. The course will be conducted in English at the IAJ's Parktown Campus, Johannesburg, South Africa.

In order to apply, applicants are requested to complete the information sheet (to be downloaded from the website: www.iaj.org.za) and submit it to the address listed below together with the following documents: a motivation letter, explaining what the applicant and their respective media houses hope to get out of the programme and how he/she will apply the skills learned; a detailed CV with clear contact details; and a letter of support from the applicant's employer, with clear contact details, committing the applicant to participate in the full duration of the course.
