Writing fundraising proposals often forms part of introductory workshops to development. It is a complex skill that requires more attention than an overview. This workshop is dedicated to proposal writing!
9:00 to 16:00
During this one-day workshop you will learn the eight steps to write a fund-raising proposal for foundations and CSI. The workshop will explain each step, share techniques and useful tips.
Contrary to other proposal writing workshops, this workshop is also dedicated to the tailoring of proposals.
It is a common mistake among grant seekers to submit a standard proposal without tailoring it according to the donor requirements. This extends further than merely the donor's proposal format to show how you can change pertinent sections to make your document compelling for a specific donor.
Workshop outline:
Read between the lines to interpret donor guidelines
Plan and gather information before you write
Understand (and bend) the traditional proposal format
Use storytelling techniques
Compile an evaluation plan
Create a sustainability plan
Write a persuasive executive summary
Calculate and determine a return on investment
Compile an accurate budget
Editing techniques
Package and submit the proposal
Developing proposal writing skills in your organisation will save you money. You will not have to rope in a proposal/ fundraising consultant to prepare submissions and your submission success rate will increase.
