Serious social investing workshopPractical knowledge on how to support corporate social investment that works. Corporate social investment (CSI) practitioners regularly express their sense of isolation from others in the field, and sometimes even from their colleagues. Grantmakers have a need to share knowledge with each other, whether that knowledge is how to select project partners, or how best to monitor spend once grants have been allocated, or how to invest smarter. This intensive two-day workshop presents CSI practitioners with best practice advice for selecting top social investments, with real insights, clear thinking, and lessons in what works best and what doesn't in this sort of work. Limited to 120 participants for effective learning, this is an engaging event with practical exercises and real examples of on-the-ground situations in broader social investments. It is not a talk shop and is deliberately not referred to as a "conference" for this reason. Speakers include commentator-at-large Denis Beckett, Group Executive Director of Discovery Health Barry Swartzberg, Tshikululu Social Investments CEO Tracey Henry, head of the Anglo Zimele Empowerment Initiative Nick van Rensburg, CEO of the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund Sibongile Mkhabele, GIBS director Nick Binedell and Head of CSI at Investec Setlogane Manchidi, among others. All materials, lunch, teas and cocktails are included. Delegates will also receive a six-month subscription to the Financial Mail.
