Valentine enchantment

Valentine Enchantment Concerts return!

The Black Tie Ensemble presents Valentine Enchantment, proudly funded by the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF).

The Valentine Enchantment programme will be filled with romantic excerpts from operas, musicals and dance. It will take place at 15:30.

The Black Tie Ensemble will once again bring you the not-to-be-missed event on the social and entertainment calendar. Valentine Enchantment is in celebration of the one day we put our love on display, Valentine's Day. It's the day for romance, whether you hate it or love it; this is still the day that Cupid will be out and about enchanting our hearts and magically transforming earth into heaven.

The exciting programme features excerpts from operas, musicals and dancing which match the romantic mood of Valentine's Day and will include: Some Enchanted Evening from South Pacific (Rodgers and Hammerstein II); Besame Mucho by C Velaquez; Comè gentil from Don Pasquale (G Donizetti); Makin' Whoopee by Donalson and Kahn; Danse Bohème from Carmen (G Bizet); Amor ti vieta from Fedora (U Giordano); Contessa perdono from Le Nozze di Figaro (W A Mozart) Je veux vivre from Romeo et Juliette (C Gounod) and Granada by A Lara to name but a few.

The 15-piece chamber orchestra will be conducted by Graham Scott, who is responsible for the orchestral arrangements for this ardent event. The full company of The Black Tie Ensemble and the Black Tie Opera Chorus, which will bring an added dimension to this amorous event, will participate in the production. We are pleased to announce that the featured dance company for these concerts will be the Helena Montoya Spanish Dance Company.

This production is one of the nine projects that are funded by The National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF) for 2011. This funding will ensure that audiences are again treated to the magnificent skills of some of South Africa's brightest young stars and to top class productions by one of the best opera companies in South Africa.

Come and experience the facets, passions and enchantment of St Valentine's Day!
