There are over 70 stands to visit and a variety of entertainment for both young and old - the market provides a wonderful opportunity for family and friends to spend time together.
Food stalls, live music performances from some of South Africa's talented musicians, carousel, jumping castles for the kids, climbing wall and an ice-rink to create that European Winter Wonderland feel; is what visitors can expect from the Christmas Market this year.
At night, the park is transformed into a Christmas wonderland to suit the evening entertainment.
As part of the Christmas Market tradition, there has to be a musical programme from the local schools. The school choirs will serenade the crowds of Friday afternoon with their angelic voices. Josie Fields will be performing live on Saturday from 19:00 to 20:00. The traditional Nativity play will take place on Sunday morning.
Christmas is a time for giving and this is the spirit that drives the Christmas Market. Every year the proceeds collected from the market is donated charity and it seems with each year new heights are reached with the money raised. In 2009 the Christmas Market raised the sum of R460 000 for the 22 Nicarela charities and this year the target is to raise R500 000 for the needy.
