Cape City Ballet, supported by The Playhouse, returns to the Opera Theatre to open 2010 festive season with its enchanting production of Cinderella.
It will be performed to live accompaniment by the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra.
Veronica Paeper's choreography set to the music of Sergei Prokofiev brings the fantasy of Perrault's fairytale vividly to life. Featuring the outrageous Ugly Sisters, Daffodil and Violet, and the benevolent Fairy Godmother, along with the all-time favourite heroine and her prince, Cinderella is comedy ballet at its best.
The role of Cinderella will be danced alternately by Laura Bosenberg, Megan Swart and Celeste George, and the Prince by Thomas Thorne, Xola Putye and Robin Van Wyk.
The ballet is full of humour and fairy tale escapism and male dancers take on the roles of the stepsisters, providing this production with some delightfully funny moments. Veronica Paeper's award-winning Cinderella continues to entertain and please audiences of all ages.
