This foundational course teaches delegates how to complete a SOA maturity assessment and enables them to identify and reference The Open Group's SOA Governance Reference and Vitality models.

Course Description

SOA Smart Start is a foundational course that equips architects and modellers with the knowledge required to adopt The Open Group's OSIMM and SOA Governance Reference models within their organisations.

The course includes a three-hour e-Learning module that brings candidates up-to-speed on the fundamental concepts tackled in the training.

Enterprise Architecture Fundamentals (EA 101)
A definition of SOA
SOA core concepts
An analysis of the role of SOA in relation to EA
An explanation of how SOA can enable an enterprise to achieve "Boundaryless Information Flow"
SOA features and the business benefits that they provide

Day 1: SOA Open Standards and Maturity Models

Description of targeted SOA Open Standards Technical Products
Guidance and Usage of Technical Products
The Open Group SOA Integration Maturity Model (OSIMM)

Day 2: SOA Governance

Introduction to SOA governance
SOA governance for the enterprise
SOA Governance Reference Model
SOA Governance Vitality Method

Prerequisites

It is assumed that the delegate has some basic understanding of SOA concepts, knows his/her way around the organisation, and is familiar with IT.

The course is a combination of instructor-led training and e-Learning pre-work.
