The 48 hour film project

The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which a team of filmmakers make a movie-write, shoot, edit and score it-in just 48 hours.

All creativity-writing, shooting, editing and adding a musical soundtrack-must occur in a 48 hour window beginning Friday evening at 7pm and ending Sunday at 7pm. The teams won't know what genre (thriller/comedy etc) they will be shooting until the start of the competition. The films must also include randomly selected lines of dialogue, props and characters. After the films are complete, they are shown in a local theatre and judged.

The 48 Hour Film Project's mission is to advance film making and promote filmmakers. Through its festival/competition, the project encourages filmmakers and would-be filmmakers to get out there and make movies. The tight deadline of 48 hours puts the focus squarely on the filmmakers-emphasizing creativity and teamwork skills.

Once you have registered and paid the mandatory fee, you must form a crew of as many people as you can and join in the excitement.
