HCI Africa holds first annual engagement summit

The Human Capital Institute (HCI) Africa, the industry association for the advancement of human capital and talent management, will be holding South Africa's first annual national engagement summit from 16-17 August 2010 at The Campus, Bryanston, Johannesburg.

As companies in South Africa redefine their organisations in the post economic crisis climate, employee engagement is being recognised as a critical business imperative. Effective strategic human capital management has a key role to play in enabling employee engagement. This event for the first time places Employee Engagment on the corporate agenda in South Africa.

The HCI Africa Engagement Summit will bring together highly experienced thought leaders and professionals in human capital management to share their insights and knowledge on current trends and best practices in employee engagement. Day one will present a practical workshop to provide opportunities for learning and application of key components in building an engagement strategy.

Day two of the summit will provide a platform for international expert Laurie Bassi, CEO McBassi and company, who will speak on "Debunking Employee Engagement Myths"s; David Conradie, Director, Consulting, Deloitte Consulting will discuss senior leadership's role in creating a culture of engagement with executives from the 2009 Best Company to Work for Awards; and Shane Hodgson, Principal Business Transformation Consultant at SAP will hone in to "Driving Engagement through Good Governance, Change and People Management". Presentation and panel discussion of a case study by Tsogo Sun will give insight into The State of Play in Designng an Engagement Strategy locally.

The summit will provide senior leaders and managers, organisational development and human capital strategists, as well as communicators, a unique opportunity to engage leading experts on challenges facing their organisations. Nadene Venter, managing director, SHL South Africa, will unpack factors beyond Drivers of Engagement; Nicci Columbine, Columbine Communication Consulting, will lead a panel discussion on defining the role of communication in employee engagement.
