Leading Women of Africa will formally open Africa Village by Women 2010 with
a prestige Opening Gala event hosted on the 5th of June 2010, in its quest
to introduce the first of an annual cultural showcase that represents the
African continent.

Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda, First President of Zambia, Patron of the
organisation Leading Women of Africa, will open and champion this landmark
noble cause that aims to promote the economic empowerment of entrepreneurial
women in Africa. Other South African leaders and government officials have
been invited and are expected to attend the Opening Gala, such as Western
Cape Premier Hellen Zille and CEO of the Gender Unit at the Department of
Trade and Industry Bongi Ludidi.

"The objective of launching Africa Village by Women 2010, is to highlight
the important role that women entrepreneurs have to play in the
socio-economic space. We aim to assist government with sustainability in
Africa and challenge government and corporate organisations to participate
and ask them to sponsor leading women entrepreneurs. Make it possible for
our African women to seize the opportunities by enabling them to actively
participate in the village", says Madelein Mkunu, president and founder of
Leading Women of Africa - the first ever Pan-African organisation dedicated
to the economic empowerment of women through enterprise business
development.

"The event includes an expo and a number of proceedings, ranging from
dinners, executive breakfasts and corporate events; celebrating the rich and
diverse entrepreneurial skills of women, including cultural skills with
music concerts, the arts and fashion shows.

"A limited amount of tickets are available for the Opening Gala. Email to book your ticket", says Mkunu.

"We appeal to local companies and ask that they get involved in this
extraordinary opportunity by empowering women within their communities to
participate in the village. By showcasing their talents and achievements the
women will also be promoting tourism to other countries in Africa and
abroad, says Nadia Swift of Get-Published (Pty) Ltd, marketing director for
Africa Village by Women 2010.
"Sponsors will benefit from national and international brand exposure of
their products and services. African small and medium enterprises should
also contact us to enquire about how they can participate," Swift concludes.
