It's just less than two months until the 2010 Wits Arts and Literature Experience gets underway - and already the programme is set to make good on Wale's promise to deliver “arts on the edge”.
Now in its third year, Wale takes place from April 21st to 24th at various venues on the Wits campus which is situated in the heart of Johannesburg's burgeoning Braamfontein precinct.
Here are some of the many exciting and intriguing programmes:
The Apartheid Archives Project
The Apartheid Archives Exhibition at Wale will include a visual and aural experience of the apartheid archives and provide information about the school of human and Community Development's ongoing Apartheid Archives Project.

“The Tunnel” WITS University

Vincent Baloyi Exhibition
The exhibition will showcase new works by the artists and Wits School of Arts staff Vincent Baloyi. Baloyi is an acclaimed artist who has been producing paintings, sculptures, prints and installations since the 1970s. His works are part of the prestigious collection of the Wits Art Gallery and Johannesburg Art Gallery.

“Substation” WITS University

Prejudice and Pride
Greg Homann, in collaboration with seventeen student actors and designers from the Tisch School of Arts (New York University) and Wits Dramatic Arts, is creating a new play about multiple characters trying to find love in Jozi.

Othello by William Shakespeare
The project is headed by Dr John Kani, veteran actor, writer, director and cultural activist, working in collaboration with Sarah Roberts, associate professor in the division and known for a career as a professional designer.

North South Exchange Programme
Over the past five years, WITS School of Arts has been involved in an educational exchange with two institutions in Finland and the other in South Africa. The context of this exchange is to build bridges through study and the production of work. This event consists of the documentaries that have been created by the students.
