The use of social media in corporate communication campaigns, be it from an internal or external communications perspective, is gathering momentum.
One the biggest global trends sees the use of digital media as a complimentary tool to traditional media. This will be the topic at one of two industry functions that Talk2Us will be speaking at during an upcoming visit to the Western Cape on 12 and 13 April.
The first presentation will be hosted by Brian Berkman's PR-Net at the Coral International Hotel on Monday, 12 April at 18:00. Daniel Munslow, Chief Communications Officer, will be speaking about the challenges of social media and its use. The session, titled, ‘Web, Wiki, What?', will unpack the role of social media in business and will explore the tools and applications used in the social mediascape.
The second session, titled ‘2010 and Beyond: The State of Communication now and in the Future' will be hosted by PRISA Western Cape on Tuesday, 13 April, at 08:30 at the Belmont Square Conference Centre in Rondebosch.
The session will also explore readiness for section eight of King Report III, which deals with stakeholder engagement. The code of good corporate governance came into effect on 1 March, paving the way for greater recognition of the role of communication.
Further, the session will share research that Talk2Us conducted late last year about the state of communication in South Africa and, due to popular demand from similar workshops in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal; delegates will have the opportunity to complete a communication audit that provides a Communication Efficiency Score (CES). The results highlight the optimisation of communication strategy.
