It will take SA two, three years to recover from drought conditions
Many municipalities across the country have been forced to impose water restrictions as a result. Authorities say despite the recent rains there has been no significant change in dam levels.
The eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality is one of many municipalities across the country which was forced to impose water restrictions due to the on-going drought in the country. Although authorities say the rainfall in the past few days has brought some relief, however, dam levels remain relatively low. Water restrictions have been lifted in the northern parts of the metro after levels at the Hazelmere Dam made significant improvement over the past couple of months.
However, dam levels at Midmar in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands, which is a key supply point in the province, remains concerning.
