WESSA calls for nominations for 2016 awards

The 2016 WESSA Awards is now open for nominations. Marking the organisation's 90-year anniversary, WESSA will this year be presenting awards in a special additional category, namely the 90 Lifetime Conservation Achiever Awards, which are a unique opportunity to acknowledge 90 living individuals who have dedicated their lives to conservation in South Africa.

The WESSA Awards have been presented since 1974 and enable WESSA to recognise and honour those who have made a significant contribution to the environmental conservation or environmental education sector in South Africa over the past year in an exceptional and sustained manner. The awards may be presented to any individual, corporate, organisation, community group, educational group, and conservation or environmental group of volunteers.

The 2016 Awards will be presented in four categories:

WESSA 90 Lifetime Conservation Achiever Awards
WESSA Award for Individuals
WESSA Award for Corporates
WESSA Award for Groups

All nominations should include:

Full name of nominee;
Full name and signature of person proposing the nominee;
Present address, contact telephone number and email address of the nominee;
Full motivation for the nomination in which the candidate’s exceptional and (where appropriate sustained) contribution to environmental conservation and/or education are described, with a specific focus on outcomes and achievements; and
An abbreviated CV of the nominee (for individual candidates).

Nominations for the 2016 WESSA Awards should be sent to az.oc.assew@tretsom.ennauol by Wednesday 24 August 2016.
