Transport Minister Dipuo Peters has asked the auditor-general to investigate allegations of financial and tender irregularities at the Passenger Rail Agency of SA (Prasa), the transport ministry announced yesterday.
The Department of Transport said that Peters had asked the auditor-general to look into alleged violations of the Public Finance Management Act and related legislation regarding contracts, the engagement of service providers, and payments to service providers, including, but not limited to, issues that have received media coverage recently.
The board of directors of Prasa, management, staff and other stakeholders are expected to cooperate with and provide support to the auditor-general, Peters said.
Public protector Thuli Madonsela will announce today the findings of her investigations into multiple allegations of corruption, fraud, nepotism and financial mismanagement at Prasa.
