Sheep farming in a severe drought

The current drought, as so many before, is a serious threat to livestock farmers. Overberg sheep farmer, Thys Delport talked to Glenneis Kriel about practical, proactive ways in which a sheep farmer can survive the drought.

Drought is a fact of life - and death - in South Africa, and the current drought is certainly no exception. After parts of North West and the Northern Cape received below-average rainfall for three consecutive years, their livestock was saved only after farmers elsewhere in the country donated feed.
