Wholesale trade sales down 7% y/y in January

Wholesale trade sales decreased by 7% year on year (y/y) in January 2015‚ Statistics SA data showed on Thursday, 19 March 2015.

Sales were measured in real terms using constant 2012 prices.

Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales decreased by 0.3% in January 2015 compared with December 2014. This followed month-on-month changes of 0.9% in December 2014 and a 2.7% decline in November 2014.

Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales decreased by 4% in the three months ended January 2015 compared with the previous three months.

Measured in nominal terms (current prices)‚ wholesale trade sales decreased by 5.4% in January 2015 compared with January 2014.

Wholesale trade sales decreased by 2.3% in the three months ended January 2015 compared with the three months ended January 2014.
