New community radio for Polokwane kicks up the energyEnergy FM is the latest community radio station for the people of Polokwane and the surrounding areas. With a slogan 'the pulse of the city', the station is expected to be the heartbeat of the city in terms of information and entertainment. ![]() Covering issues that matterEnergy FM's Chairman, Simphiwe Mdlalose and the Founder Shonisani 'Ashifashabba' Muleya led a team that was responsible for bringing the radio station to the city. "Like other cities in the world, our city needed a radio station that would concentrate on covering all issues and matters that affect our people," Mdlalose said. The broadcasting format carries 65% music and 35% talk. The music will feature a variety of genres such as R&B, soul, Afro-pop, Afro-soul, hip-hop, Kwaito, house jazz and gospel. It will broadcast 24 hours throughout the Capricorn district with 60% in English and 40% in vernacular, incorporating the three dominant ethnic groups in the city (sePedi, tshiVenda, and xiTsonga).
