Wholesale trade sales drops 4.6% in July

Wholesale trade sales decreased 4.6% year-on-year (y/y) in July compared with a 3.2% y/y increase in June‚ Statistics SA data showed on Thursday, 18 September 2014.

Sales were measured in real terms using constant 2012 prices.

Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales decreased by 5.2% in July 2014 compared with June 2014. This followed month-on-month changes of 2.6% in June 2014 and -1.4% in May 2014.

Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales decreased by 1.9% in the three months ended July 2014 compared with the previous three months.

Measured in nominal terms (current prices)‚ wholesale trade sales increased by 2.6% in July 2014 compared with July 2013.

Wholesale trade sales increased by 6.2% in the three months ended July 2014 compared with the three months ended July 2013.
