Wholesale trade sales up 3.2% y/y in June

Wholesale trade sales increased 3.2% year on year (y/y) in June compared with a 0.8% drop in May‚ Statistics South Africa data showed on Thursday, 14 August 2014.

Sales were measured in real terms using constant 2012 prices.

Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales increased by 1.4% in June 2014 compared with May 2014. This followed month-on-month changes of -0.3% in May 2014 and -0.1% in April 2014.

Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales decreased by 1.0% in the second quarter of 2014 compared with the previous quarter.

Measured in nominal terms (current prices)‚ wholesale trade sales increased by 11.6% in June 2014 compared with June 2013.

Wholesale trade sales increased by 9.5% in the second quarter of 2014 compared with the second quarter of 2013.
