PRETORIA: The Ministry of Higher Education and Training on Friday, 8 August 2014, thanked Medunsa for reaching an agreement to resume academics programmes following strike action.
"The Ministry of Higher Education and Training wishes to thank the Medunsa [Medical University of Southern Africa] management, together with its Student Representative Council (SRC), for reaching an agreement yesterday afternoon to return the university to normality and resume with academic programmes," said the ministry in a statement.
Earlier last week, the university located in Ga-Rankuwa ordered students to vacate the premises following a decision to close the institution.
"The engagements that started on 31 July led by the Director General Gwebinkundla Qonde with both parties; the Management and SRC continued communication on the side-lines, has assisted to reach this point," said the ministry.
Classes at the university are expected to resume this week.
