Tennis star features in TV ad
This year, ahead of the US Open, Maria Sharapova has been featuring in a Nike tennis commercial currently being aired in the US. The tennis courts at the US Open are often viewed as a runway for tennis fashion, especially with New York fashion week taking place almost simultaneously.
The commercial communicates the message that beneath Sharapova's beautiful exterior, lies an intensively competitive tennis player.
It features Sharapova during her pre-game routine as she travels from her hotel to centre court, passing bellmen, fans and other tennis players - all who sing "I feel pretty" as she walks past. Throughout the procession, she remains focused on her match.
