BPM Magazine to join Breathe Sunshine African Music Conference panel at ADEBPM Magazine is set to join Breathe Sunshine African Music Conference for a panel discussion regarding South African dance music at the annual Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) - Europe's biggest club festival and conferences for electronic music. ![]() The discussion, called Meet the South Africans, will take place on Thursday, 17 October in Amsterdam and is one of the first at the 18th edition of ADE. The host, Breathe Sunshine founder Trenton Birch, will be fielding questions to leading represantives in South Africa's dance music industry - including BPM Magazine's editor Dave Mac, Bridges for Music's co-founder and director Valentino Barrioseta, leading DJ and producer Black Coffee (from Soulistic Music), and Duncan Ringrose (sShadoworkSs, Cape Town Electronic Music Festival) amongst others. The panel will largely be focusing on urban house. It is believed that there are more DJs per capita in South Africa than anywhere else in the world and one only has to take a short drive through a township to witness the love for house music as it thumps from every street corner. Exciting times for electronic musicSaid Dave Mac: "These are exciting times for electronic music in South Africa. The past year has seen a big focus put on the music coming from here, especially the urban deep house sounds from the likes of Black Coffee, Jullian Gomes and others. But let's not forget about Protoculture, Sibot, Haezer, Spoek Mathambo and others who have also impacted on the global dance music scene. Our panel discussion at ADE is a wonderful affirmation that we have indeed joined the world stage." Following on from the panel discussion there will also be a Focus on South Africa: Matchmaking Session where one-on-one discussion with the panellists will take place. ![]() DETAILS Panel: MEET THE SOUTH AFRICANS Panel: FOCUS ON SOUTH AFRICA: MATCHMAKINGOctober 17th. 16:30 - 17:30 BOILERROOM.TV Take-OverFeaturing LINKShttp://blackmangomusic.com/wordpress/ |
