100 doors project

As part of its Centenary celebrations, Jo'burg Child Welfare has tasked 100 South Africans, including artists, musicians, celebrities, authors, comedians, photographers, cartoonists and graphic designers to each take an old door and turn it into a piece of art.

The door is a symbol of the home and new opportunities which JCW offers families and children in need.

Participants include legendary musos Mango Groove, Lira, Ard Matthews and Johnny Clegg. Advertising giants Ogilvy and Jupiter Drawing Room are also on board as are comedians John Vlismas and Bevan Cullinan. Isidingo stars Grethe Fox, Kim Engelbrecht and Robert Whitehead have also donated their time and talent to the door project.
Once all the doors have been completed, they will be auctioned in February 2011 in order to raise much needed funds for Jo'burg Child Welfare.
JCW has been caring for abused, abandoned and neglected children since 1909.
