Construction regulations for the mining sector

According to the Mine Health and Safety Act ( Act 29 of 1996 ), employers are, inter alia, responsible for the acts or omissions of their employees and contractors. The Construction Regulations for the Mining Sector Legal Liability Workshop deals the basic legal principles applicable to employers, employees, manufacturers, contractors and other persons specifically in the construction environment of the mining sector.

Learning outcomes:
After successful completion of the workshop, delegates will be able to
• understand the legal responsibilities of all stakeholders
• understand the vicarious liability principle
• understand under which circumstances the burden of responsibility of an employer move over to another party
• understand their responsibility regarding compliance of the construction regulations from an employer, employee, contractor or manufacturer's position, and
• understand the role of criminal prosecution when failing to comply to the construction regulations.
