Courts asked to suspend shipping tender

According to a report by Business Report, Smit Amandla, the local subsidiary of the Dutch shipping group Smit has served notice of motion on the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) seeking to prevent it from awarding a R1-billion tender to Sekunjalo.

Business Report reports that the department announced last month that it had awarded the management and maintenance contract to Sekunjalo and Kobus Naval Design. Sekunjalo owns a controlling share in Premier Fishing, prompting allegations of a conflict of interests for the company.
