Cape Town summer events

With our busy summer events season completely wrapped, it is nice to be able to take a moment and reflect on some of the highlights. Barcode was proud to showcase their unique brand of event organisation at some of the Mother City's more memorable social events. The Johannesburg team got a well deserved rest after a massive year thanks to the World Cup and sporting calendar.

The festive season saw a host of glamorous, high profile private events commencing with the Hugo Boss Summer Collection Party, database and organisation by Greater Than PR. Champagne sponsored by Moet for over 600 select guests saw style ramps and the use of Clifton's largest residence the Castle.

The 2010 World Social Security Forum Gala Dinner catered to 1200 international delegates treated to a 3 course dinner by Extreem Kwizeen and entertained with local talent and vibrant culture.

C.S.A Events coordinated the largest annual Clifton private function with over 600 Guests with a good contingent from the Hugo Boss event 3 weeks before. Cocktails and champagne accompanied an amazing selection of talent and well choreographed acrobatic performances and dancers.

While these events were opportunities for Barcode to showcase their uniquely bespoke approach to private functions, post New Year saw focus shift to Barcode's speciality and origination - largescale horseracing events. At the L'Ormarins Queens Plate, for the third consecutive year, Barcode was selected by Sail to provide world class service to the aproximately 4000 upmarket and trendy patrons. Guests were treated to a spectacle in front of the Grandstand at Kenilworth Race course including Gazelle, Crazy White Boy and Locnville. Cafe Caprice did what they do best and threw an enviable thrash thanks to the team at Brandnew Marketing. With talk of a bigger purse for next year by Gary Player this event will be a highlight on the international racing and social calendars.

The J&B Met lived up to its by-line this year as public and corporates went the extra mile in pulling out all the stops to create an electric atmosphere both sides of the track. A larger than life crowd packed the Equus Lounge as Kreame Lifestyle Industry teamed up with Barcode to host the largest site within the village, and created an exciting and luxurious party venue for our country's elite on the social scene.

Experience, efficiency and professionalism are the benchmark of Barcode's service and organisation at these major events, and the appreciation of their seamless delivery remains one of the strongest rewards.

Barcodes supports Cape Town's drive for the design World Design Capital 2014 and creative initiatives in general. We will be aiming for all productions that support this cause. At this year's Design Indaba we celebrated Massimo Vignelli's 80th birthday with Interactive Africa. Guests travelled in style in the new Countryman Mini's and escorted to the event at the Lookout on the Waterfront and treated to localvore boutique spirit cocktails, using Jorgensen's and La Meurte agave small batch spirits produced in the Western Cape.

Barcode has an indoor venue drive through winter, cocktail evenings commencing on Wednesday's at Fatback Soul on long street and monthly at The Dream Factory.
