Men's Health has retained its position as the largest men's consumer magazine with circulation figures of 71,801 - showing year-on-year growth of 6.7% and now selling 19,000 copies more than its closest competitor.
In a tough female market where total circulation in the women's general category dropped 4.4%, Women's Health (for the period Jan to June 2010) has showed 3.8% growth on its first recorded ABC figures (Oct to Dec 2009) with a circulation figure of 68,331.
Edited by Ridwaan Bawa and Kate Wilson, Men's Health and Women's Health are published by Touchline Media and extend to interactive individual websites (www.mh.co.za and www.womenshealthsa.co.za).
Says Kate Wilson, editor of Women's Health magazine: "The fact that Women's Health's second ABC posting shows real growth is an amazing vote of confidence for this brand. It's not simply that the market is under pressure, but to achieve this degree of penetration so quickly confirms that this is an audience that still believes in and responds to print, provided there is a complementary digital offering to reinforce it.
"It's worth noting that even in these tough times our circulation is 100% paid and that, although as yet unaudited, our subscriptions are now over 10,269 (as of August)," says Wilson.
The September issues of Men's Health and Women's Health magazines hit newsstands on 25 August 2010, with the ultimate guide to denim and a complimentary music CD for total relaxation or a fat-burning workout.
Men's Health is printed 12 times a year with a cover price of R35.95. Women's Health is printed 10 times a year with a cover price of R29.95.
