A winning recipe

Looking for a drink to impress at your next party? Try the recipe below - it's an original that earned South African cocktail maestro, Ryan Duvenage, seventh place in the world at the recent IBA World Cocktail Competition in Berlin, Germany. Enjoy!

Imperial Sour

37.5ml Matrioshka Vodka
15ml Monin Honey Syrup
15ml Grand Marnier
25ml Fresh Lemon Juice

Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Garnish with a grapefruit twist and piece of fresh honeycomb.

A variation on a classic sour, the Imperial Sour is a relatively simple drink that combines the light, fresh flavours of vodka with honey syrup and Grand Marnier, balanced with fresh citrus to give a more interesting twist to a drink that is part of almost every bartender's repertoire. The quality of this drink comes through not in complexity of the recipe but rather in careful use of quality ingredients and attention to technique in its preparation.
