Explosive Joburg launch for Barcode mobile bar industry

With all the edge and adrenaline of an illegal street race, the launch of the Renault Clio RS was a true spectacle. Event organisers Proximity#ttp perfectly captured the urban spirit of Renault's new racer, incorporating extreme sports, special effects, graffiti art and the hip-hop sounds of DJ Ready D into a truly dynamic party. The fuel for this energy was provided by Barcode – from a striking ten metre dark bar that provided the ideal centre-piece for the underground theme. A range of unique cocktails and flaming shooters designed specifically for the event saw guests unable to tear themselves away from a party that, unsurprisingly, carried on well beyond its expected finish.

Johannesburg-based Barcode partner, Guy Allen, was not surprised by the smooth operation of the bar service on the night – “Events of this profile are not new to us. With substantial experience across a wide variety of events in Durban and other areas across the country, we are able to offer our Johannesburg clients consistency, efficiency and originality.”

The experience that Guy mentions goes back four years to when Barcode was established. Since then it has grown into Durban's clear bar industry leader – the obvious choice for private, corporate and large-scale events like the A1 Grand Prix of Nations, The Vodacom Durban July, and the Vodacom International Beach Soccer Tour.

Part of Barcode's success can been attributed to an astute understanding of the potential for client brand development in the mobile bar industry. This was one of the primary motivations for Miller Genuine Draft choosing BARCODE to be bar service supplier to its recent Miller Music Tour final party held in Midrand. Barcode's electric front bars and new generation back bar displays acted as dynamic platforms for the presentation of the potent Miller brand. Yet, for the Barcode team, emphasis was always on professional service with a positive attitude. In the words of event organisers TBD, “Thank you for your superb effort – it would be great if all our suppliers got stuck in like you did and were as accommodating and helpful as you guys were on the evening.”

Head of Marketing, Bevan Rees, explains why this is one of the factors that makes Barcode different – “As an established mobile bar services company, we have a depth and diversity in infrastructure and staff that allows us to cater to a broad range of events, regardless of size and theme. But great-looking bars and well-trained staff are only part of the equation. Our past and current success is largely due a positive approach to service delivery. Each member of our team is aware of the fact that they are working in a service industry, and are selected for their ability to provide that service engagingly. Your Barcode bartender is a professional, an entertainer and an individual, but he doesn't think he's a celebrity. People respond to that personable attitude. It adds significantly to the overall feel of an event.”

With an exciting new generation of bar infrastructure and fresh branding concepts, Barcode looks forward to bringing its combination of experience, innovation and adaptability to the Johannesburg market.
