This massive recruitment phase kicked off in January with the employment of 17-crew to Okuhle's new baby, the first ever fixed, HD studio in Cape Town.
Okuhle, known for TV shows such as the seven-year old, daily live show, Hectic Nine-9, on SABC 2 and award-winning, Sarah Grahams' Bitten, along with Kasilicous and Born Frees on e.tv, have had a busy year. "We are proud and privileged to be able to contribute so significantly to providing job opportunities in our industry and province," said Paula Brown, CEO of Okuhle Media.
"Whilst it's exciting times with new faces to bring a fresh new approach and ideas, in our industry, the challenge is always finding the balance between ensuring the sustainability of the organisation, securing consistent business to generate consistent revenue and the risks that go with this," Brown continued.
"Our industry, like any, provides no guarantees. You are only as good as your last show. This we take very seriously and needless to say, ensure that every show that goes out is above our client or broadcaster's expectations."
Okuhle recently completed the first of the KnifeCap Grindstone programmes, providing the company with something few other production companies even consider, namely a full corporate due diligence. "The Grindstone programme was really a means to cementing our foundations even deeper and providing us, the founders, with some peace of mind relating to the future growth and sustainability of our business," said Brown.
It was an amazing learning experience and I can say without a doubt, that all five of us (Okuhle is founded, run and owned by five females from the media industry) are very clear about where this business will be in five and ten years and thrilled at the prospects that lie ahead," she concluded.
