AMTA Namibia suspends cabbage, onion imports
The Agro-Marketing and Trade Agency (AMTA) Namibia is to suspend the importation of controlled crops - butternuts, cabbages and onions - between April and August as local production is expected to improve. Onions will have a partial closure for four months from June to August.

This was revealed in the agency’s production forecast report released on 20 March covering the period from 1 April to 31 August.
According to the report, the three crop varieties are part of the specially controlled crops: potatoes, onions, butternuts and cabbage. The four products can only be imported under a special import permit during an open border period.
The permit is only valid for 30 days.
