The fifth edition of the Annual Communications Innovation Awards (ACIA) took place last Friday evening at the Sheraton Kampala hotel.
The Ugandan edition of the ICT Oscars attracted people with keen interest in technology from all walks of life. The ceremony, organised by Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), awarded Ugandan technology innovators at all levels.
The colorful event was graced by the UCC's executive director Godfrey Mutabazi, ICT ministry officials and ICT enthusiasts. A sumptuous dinner plus performances by musicians Emma Dragu, Myko Ouma and Bebe Cool with the Gagamel band spiced the event.

- Winner: St Peters Secondary School, Pallisa
- Prize: Cash $1,000, HTC desire, laptop for each member

- Winner: Santa Lucia Secondary School
- Prize: $1,000 cash, educational tablets, MiFi router from Smile Telecom and Shs 2m from Vodafone
ICT for development award
- Winner: Airtel Weza
- Prize: $7,500 implementation grant and $2,500 cash

- Winner: PM live
- Prize: $7,500 implementation grant and $2,500 cash
