2018 SA Construction Industry Awards to host Thulas NxesiThe 11th annual South African Construction Industry Awards (SACA Awards) will take place this year on 6 October, with South African minister of public works Thulas Nxesi as the special guest of honour. Launched in 2007, the awards aims to promote the work and achievements of engineers, architects, project managers, quantity surveyors and construction companies around the country. Finalists are judged by a panel of industry peers selected for their knowledge and experience in the industry, including the media. Judges are grouped in teams of five, but independently review and score nominees. Each group assesses approximately three categories. The judges are looking for sustainable businesses that are making a real contribution to the South African economy with passion, planning and a commitment to excellence and innovation. Construction professionals oversee the awards judging process. Their role is to audit nominees for compliance, transparency, fairness, audit score sheets and check conflicts of interest and confidentiality declarations.
