Online radio station launched to promote African musicVibrations Radio, the brainchild of Mohamed Fall (Brother Mo), has been founded to promote uniquely African music, such as maskanda, kwaito, kwela, mbalax as well as jazz, soul, hip hop, R&B, pop and world music. It seems almost natural to assume that there would be a channel exclusively dedicated to its promotion, but up until now these genres have received very little airtime on the Internet, leaving a sizeable gap in the market. As the owner and producer of Vibrations Recording Studio, Mo has over two decades' worth of experience in developing and promoting African artists. He also serves as a board member on Cape Mic, Airco and the Western Cape Musician Association, which allows him to keep abreast of both local and international industry trends and developments. Six DJs, six showsThe idea to create an online radio station to promote African music exclusively was first put forward in early 2012 and Brother Mo decided to use his influence to provide the platform on which to do so.
