Friends of Design - Academy of Digital Arts, is a buzzing Digital Design school situated in the heart of Cape Town in Bree Street. We're an innovative and rapidly growing school that have taken the lead in the instruction of all things design.

So what exactly is Digital Design?

It is an evolving and exciting multi-disciplinary field that underlies many of today's fast-growing industries: from advertising to entertainment to print to web-based communication. Digital design can be seen everywhere in the pixel landscapes around you - in movies and on television, in video games, in magazine ads, in expos and trade show and even museum exhibits, and of course, the internet. It involves everything from the virtual sets created for a game to the special effects in movies to the design of online advertising campaigns.

With Friends of Design being an Apple and Adobe certified training centre, you are ensured top class, industry aligned training on Apple Macs equipped with the latest versions of creative suite software. All of our trainers have deep, wide - ranging expertise, bringing their industry experience into the classroom and infusing our students with passion, enthusiasm and dedication as well as a solid knowledge of the design world.

Two year Digital Design Course

Print Design and Publishing (One Year)
Our accredited one-year, full time practical print programme will teach you how to create artistic print and layout graphics, and give you a thorough grounding in Print media environment. We will take you from the conceptual process right through to turning those concepts into tangible results with thorough technical training on industry aligned Adobe software (Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator). By the end of the year you will have produced a final body of work - your portfolio - in a professional manner which counts a great deal towards securing your first job in the industry.

Web Design and Interactive Media (One Year)
Web Design is the creation of visual solutions that are delivered to an end user through the World Wide Web, by way of a web browser among others. Motion design This one year, full time practical programme will engage you in standards - compliant web design and publishing, video publishing and post production techniques among others. Motion Design is a graphic design within the context of film, video or computer animation. You will require the one year Print design and Publishing programme or equivalent study/work experience.
